Generation Technologies has partnered with the Microsoft Windows Media Group to pioneer the use of WMV9 for broadcast quality media in a network news workflow. This partnership will enable CBS Newspath, and other media organizations, to deliver higher quality content more efficiently with existing bandwidth. In addition, Generation Technologies has implemented systems on Microsoft architectures for more than 22 years to the advantage of our broadcasting customers. At the dawn of Microsoft SQL Server (1992), Generation developed the industry’s first fully relational wide-area replicating metabase known as NIM™ (Newsroom Information Model™). Nowadays the conjunction of our early adoption of WMV9/VC1 and our ability to mix legacy MPEG, DV25, etc all the way from tape archive to affiliate side playback, has grown our relationship with Microsoft into a real partnership. With the combination of Microsoft and Generation Technologies systems, our customers are positioning themselves to fluidly and economically manage media content over large networks of stations with diverse media formats and metadata models.
