NEW YORK, NY and OVERLAND PARK, KS – Network News Service (NNS) has selected Generation Technologies Corporation (GTC), to provide its next generation network newsroom and affiliate content management system. The system known as NIM™ is based on GTC’s Newsroom Information Model and will be replacing an earlier version of the same system installed at NNS’s inception in 2000.
NNS is the domestic news cooperative of ABC, CBS and Fox News. NNS collects news content from over 500 member affiliates nationwide and then redistributes to their affiliates and networks.
The system improves network operations efficiency and communications, while maintaining the current NNS news workflow. The latest version of NIM™ allows NNS to consolidate document storage systems and provides senior producers, producers and editors easy access to all of the information and functionality critical to their daily job duties in one location. Remote access of the system is available to the users via an internet browser.
New editorial material will be ingested via the GTC wires system and will be viewed via NIM™ in real-time. NNS can sort and search material and set up views specific to each user’s job function. Users will be able to create, edit and approve news content and distribute to the ABC, CBS and Fox partner networks for use in daily newscasts.
GTC is a privately held company that has specialized in TV news for 30 years. Their products include software and hardware for all aspects of managing a network television newsroom from the assignment desk to the contribution and distribution of video clips and news wires.
