MAG Theory: Distribution

This feature set is at the heart of most “Content Distribution Networks”; however, the latest product offerings from Generation Technologies are decidedly more advanced. Below is a diagram of a basic distribution workflow. This process is initiated from the core and can be triggered by a new clip from the record room, a new affiliate contribution, or a new clip on a supported video server system. The Network Producer will enter/validate metadata, assign permissions (restrictions & embargos), and approve the media for distribution. Immediately after approval, the metadata and preview media is multicast to all edge servers where affiliates are notified of the new item and can preview the clip. Normally, the high quality media will be prioritized and delivered in queue. While delivery time is dependant on bandwidth, new Advanced CODECs can reduce delivery time by nearly two thirds. Optionally, you can enable the Instant Delivery on Approval feature, which will pre-deliver a protected version of the high quality media to affiliates as soon as it is available to the core. Once the media is approved, the high quality media is instantly made accessible to the approved affiliates.
